Terms of Use

These terms govern the use of the OpenPLS cloud app (cloud.openpls.app). The OpenPLS engine itself is released separately under GPL-3.0 as Open Source.

This is a courtesy translation. The German version at openpls.app/de/agb is the legally binding text.

1. Scope and provider

These Terms of Use apply to the OpenPLS web application at cloud.openpls.app and the associated marketing site at openpls.app. Provider: Johannes Jacob, Ohlsdorfer Straße 72, 22297 Hamburg, Germany, hello@openpls.app.

2. Services

OpenPLS is a web application for modelling and estimating structural equation models with PLS-SEM. Use is currently free. The underlying engine is released as Open Source under GPL-3.0.

3. Account

4. Permitted use

You agree not to upload data without sufficient rights, not to upload personal data without consent, not to perform automated bulk requests, not to bypass security, and not to use the service unlawfully.

5. Availability and beta status

The Provider strives for high availability but does not guarantee a specific SLA. The cloud app is under active development; results are validated against PLS-SEM literature but no numerical agreement with third-party tools is guaranteed.

6. Liability

The Provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence, liability is limited to breaches of cardinal obligations and typically foreseeable damage.

7. Termination and changes

You may delete your account at any time. The Provider may terminate the user relationship with 30 days' notice. The Provider may adapt these terms for legal or functional reasons; you will be informed for material changes.

8. Law and jurisdiction

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Jurisdiction for merchants is Hamburg, Germany.

The legally binding terms of use are the German version at openpls.app/de/agb.
